Hi all. As I am trying to plan my first ever PC build, on a very tight budget (was around £750 but may be closer to £500 now), I was wondering if the X4 860K would be a worthwhile CPU to use?

Essentially, the build needs to have everything other than keyboard, mouse and case (I have the Zalman ZM-T4, not sure if it is any good though). I do need a monitor.

Finally, the only "game" I play is Football Manager 2017 but I am looking at possibly getting into a bit more in the future. Other than that, I use my laptop for Microsoft Office, Sublime Text and web browsing.

On a side note, I don;t mind building a PC now and upgrading as time goes on (if that helps at all). Thank you in advance

I would suggest maybe waiting to see pricing for the new 4-core ryzen. It might be a while though so if you're impatient go for it but know there isn't an upgrade path for that cpu unless you upgrade motherboard also

He has a case but he needs a monitor and a hdd I believe. It would be smarter to swap out the i5 with say a pentium g4560 and using the 100 pounds towards some storage and a monitor.

Indeed I do need a monitor. I did buy a used HDD but I'm not sure I trust it so may have to write off that purchase as a mistake and move on :)

Thank you @Shiv78 that looks pretty good. As I get a bit more cash I can get another monitor (I am used to working with two monitors in my job and that would be helpful at home too, but not essential for the time being)

You guys on here work wonders!
