Does Dishonored 2 still run like crap?

I finished Dishonored plus all the DLCs about a week ago and liked it a lot. I'd be interested in picking up Dishonored 2 if it goes on sale (£40 is a bit steep) but launch reviews of the game said it was horribly optimised and ran like shit.

 

Does anyone here own Dishonored 2? If so, are the performance issues improved or resolved now at all?

why dont you have a look on youtube or do further research?

I have, but I wanted to hear directly from people who have owned the game, and have played it, recently.

That's the problem, it was very inconsistent. Some said it was totally fine, some said it was better but still not totally fixed, some said it was still broken.

It's not as bad as it was, but it still runs like dookie for how it looks - not that it doesn't look good, it's just that how it looks doesn't justify the performance imo.

 

But it is better than it was at launch.

What kind of hardware are you running the game on, if I may ask?

6600k and a 980.

I bought it a coupe months ago and ran fairly well on 1440p. My specs are in my sig (only difference is I had an i5 at the time). I wasn't quite on Ultra but I maintained 60+ FPS with a few dips into the 50s.

I just got it delivered today from Newegg (30 bucks USD shipped, beautiful price). I am going to try and install it tonight and run it a bit on my 4790K and GTX1080 hybrid at 1440p 60hz. I will try and remember to come back here and let you know

I recently completed DH2 last week, and after the first update I had no notable issues. 6700k,1070,34in ultra wide 1080p.

I had no serious Problems in my playthrough. One Area had FPS Drops, the Rest was fine.

I beat it recently and I'm working on a second playthrough right now.

 

I've got a GTX 1070 and I'm playing it at 1080p with absolute max settings and the vast majority of the time it runs very, very well. 100+ FPS for me, usually. But every so often I'll find a room that consistently wants to run at 45–50 FPS. Neither my CPU or GPU is at 100% load when it happens and changing graphics options doesn't seem to help, either. I can think of just a few (like, 2 or 3) locations in the game where that happened, but otherwise it ran well for me.

 

I had my own concerns about the game, but either due to my relatively powerful hardware or post-launch patching it seems to run a lot better for me than the accounts I heard before I bought it. I have no idea how it may differ on your system, but personally I wouldn't worry too much about it.
