Hello guys,

So, this friend of mine asked me to find a gaming pc to replace the old Mac he uses which is owned by his parents. He has a maximum budget of 800 euros (that's why the pc part picker is/should be in german/deutsch) and I've already picked the parts. I believe he has a monitor or we'll figure that part out later. What I am concerned about is cables. I still have a SATA cable so that's no problem, what I am concerned about is the gpu cable. Or rather, every cable. I've never bought a full build before so don't have experience with the psu. Does the psu come with all the cables? Does the psu come with extra cables for the gpu? And for the hdd? Can you guys recommend any changes? (800 euros max, set to Germany/Deutschland) this is the list: https://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/XN3y9W Have fun cringing over the extreme prices and my bad choices! (there are so many cpus... Help)

Oh yeah, we live in The Netherlands but the Belgium region is extremely expensive...

Thanks in advance!!!

You don't need extra cables, typically the motherboard comes with 2 Sata-Cables (1 with straight-straight connectors, 1 straight-rectangular) and the psu does come with all cables it is able to handle, nothing to worry about you will be fine. Though keep in mind that PCPP does not list a price for your particular chosen psu, so you will pay more eventually. Getting a 6600k with a B150 is also not a good option as you can't overclock it on that chipset. I suggest dipping the k and get a 6500.

Yes, PSU Comes with all the cables you need.

Your CPU is unlocked - thus the "k" on the end, but B150 Chipset won't allow you to overclock it. Go for x99 or z170 on the motherboard.

qυoтe мe pleaѕe!

Me at the Apple store: "So how fast is this little macbook?"

Apple employee: "Cheetah Fast. Lightning Fast. It's Really, really, fast."

Thank you for your reply. I changed the case to something else because he wants a black and red scheme. And yes, I do look at the clearance height of that cooler. Another question: does the cpu come with thermal paste applied? Or thermal paste at all?

Yes, the 212 Evo comes with a small tube of thermal paste.

Most coolers come with thermal past as @WMGroomAK already stated, though I forgot to mention and also forgot while creating this parts list that the 6500 already comes with a stock heatsink, so you could save yourself 30€ and don't get the aftermarket cooler

Yeah, I knew that. But I thought I might as well keep it since you obviously (I thought) but it there for a reason xD. Maybe I can use that extra money for another motherboard. Since... Well... Any other recommendations? I have this now https://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/4mmCKZ. I kinda wanna replace the motherboard with something better and cheaper.. No problem if Pcpartpicker doesn't have the seller, it's probably still available. Check the German Amazon other websites like Tweakers.net. Maybe just give some options and I'll look.

EDIT: I went to look and found this one https://tweakers.net/pricewatch/496253/msi-h110m-gaming.html (sorry for dutch site but it also shows merchants!) Afuture has it pretty cheap so I think that this is gonna be the final motherboard for this build! The IO is pretty respectable... Not great, but respectable..

Recommending Skylake when Kaby lake chips are available @ the same price point?

The tech community never seizes to amaze me.

I7-7700k@5.1ghz + 1080ti @ 2050mhz + 32gbs Ram + 2TB SSD = CSGO

i7-6700k@4.9ghz + 980ti @ 1501mhz + 16gbs Ram + 1 TB SSD = Backup

i7-3770k@4.8ghz + 680 4gb + 32gbs Ram + 500gb SSD = Retired/Office work

looks solid in its final form.

@PCMasterDebater: yeah you can go with kaby, but 1.) improvement = zero over skylake, maybe 1 or 2 % and 2.) always a thing with budget boards and bios updates, could possible lead to some headaches, so why not go with leaving the possible trouble behind and just get skylake, it's not a bad chip. COnclusion: you can go with kaby, but skylake will offer you no real disadvantages.
heck i even build a haswell system for a friend though skylake was already out: What i've won with that: i5 for 30-40 bucks less and no performance loss because it was only paired with a GTX 950 (though it should be noted that there would have been a performance gain with a higher performance gpu and skylake i5 in opposite what we have here). I don't think you will be able to tell any difference between this system with skylake vs. this system with the 7500

There is literally a 6 dollar price difference between a i5-6500@3.2ghz and the i5-7500@ 3.8ghz and a $10 difference between a h110 and a h270.

600mhz for $16...

This is dollars and that's great and all... But how are the price differences in Europe? (Not the UK... I don't live there and I only really care about Dutch or German resellers..)

EDIT:  I looked it up. What can I say I became curious   :P

17 euro difference from the 6500 to the 7500.

and a 3 euro difference from a h170 to a h270. the h270 is cheaper.

For 14 euros, you can gain 600mhz and have hardware from 2017!

I lack the time to find out for you. Jump on PCpartpicker, Newegg, or any german website to find out yourself.

Alright, I found out that the i5-7500 is actually like 5 euros cheaper than the i5-6500!

But... There are no motherboards that actually fit in the budget if I choose that one. With these options there is nothing fitting under 800. And he is already squeezing out more money for a monitor... So he'll just have to settle with a generation older.

Owh... I searched for that thing you said.. h270... Others are way cheaper than that! This is the build now: https://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/j2C8m8/ I guess that this is the final version of it! Unless it's possible to squeeze an SSD in there... 800 euros is juuuuuust not enough... Oh well, he'll be able to put an SSD in it later on
