So basically I've been getting random 1-5+ seconds stutters/freezes when playing games, whether they are regular ones or even flash ones. For flash and co. it's usually less prominent, as in it lasts like a single second as if my FPS dropped to 0 and swiftly recovered. It's usually relatively rare, as in every 25-30+ minutes. It seemingly became more frequent when I played the Ghost Recon Wildlands (very resource intensive) open beta a few days back. The game justs freezes with the sound playing normally.

I can't really say when it started, I often disregarded it as probably being background tasks or game engine problems.

Yesterday after playing Dead Island: Definitive Edition (resource intensive) for a while (3-4 hours), it started getting worse and worse; at some point I even started hearing some clicking noise (HDD or GPU fan?) -- it didn't stop, and the freezing became worse and worse, so I had to reboot. It hasn't happened since. Max GPU temps for Ghost Recon & Dead Island were 72 Celsius, 40-ish for CPU.

One of my HDDs (where my games are stored) is sort of (maybe?) dying*, but it shouldn't affect flash games no? (Windows is on a SSD)

0.01% damaged blocks according to HDTune, "Caution" according to Crystaldisk (uncorrectable sector count: 100) -- but SeaTools disagrees, as well as Speccy. (S.M.A.R.T. = Good.)

Specs (nothing overclocked):

Windows 10 Home

Intel 4930K

Rosewill Xtreme 750W

Asus Rampage IV Extreme

SSD: Samsung 840 Evo

SSD: Samsung 850 Evo

SSHD: Seagate ST4000DX001

Two nVIDIA Gigabyte 980GTX Windforce, SLI enabled

Creative Soundblaster Zx

16GB DDR3

Things I've tried

- Closing all apps in the tray, especially security (Defender, Comodo, etc)

- Putting everything on "High Performance" in power options or AI Suite II

- Windows Memory (Ram) Diagnostic

- CHKDSK

- Re-installing Soundblaster drivers

- Re-installing nVIDIA drivers (clean install)

- Uninstalling every unrelated audio driver, thinking there was a conflict (nVIDIA, Realtek)

- Dusting off the interior

If there's anything else I can provide just tell me. Thanks in advance!

Supernova G2 750W?

It's for Ryzen 1700X & 1080Ti.

The G2 is the one to get.  The G2L is the same thing with lights and a bit smaller when it gets to higher watts.  There is a newer design that is a bit better than the G2, but its even more expensive.  And 750W should be good unless you plan on running 3 cards in crossfire.

Ok, thanks! I might do SLI in the future, but definitely not three cards.

Don't care about looks. Just want something good and relatively silent.

It's for Ryzen 1700X & 1080Ti.

750w is perfect for a highend SLI system, I have 1000w, but thats cause it was platinum and I needed a white PSU for my old build
