Hello, all!

I'm putting together components to build a Folding@Home desktop, which will run 24/7. I would prefer used, since it's cheaper, but if there are amazing deals on new, I'm not opposed to that either. My only requirement is that it has 2 8-pin PCI-E power for power hungry GPUs.

Thank you!

In loose terms it's "as cheap as it can be". But something under 50 Dollars is great (I think you can get Antec EarthWatts units off of Ebay for 25-35)

OK but for a 24/7 op, don't you want a top shelf high efficiency unit so you're not pulling so much out of the wall and not have to worry about the electrical pixies rioting?

That is true. I'm sure using a higher rated PSU would be better for OCing as well. (Well duh.)

I also understand that reference.

I donno about $50 or so, but both the Corsair and EVGA G2 units on the PSU list are about $100 brand new. maybe you can find one of them used? i'd be pretty comfortable with either pulling full time use.

For 24 hour use with a power hungry card you'd see a real power bill difference with a more efficient unit. Can you afford a Rosewill Quark?

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

Unfortunately not. But it seems like the SeaSonic S12G 550 is is my price range. I've also seen EVGA GQ units go on sale for quite a low price from time to time.

@TheGhzGuy solid choices. having some touch and go success with my Seasonic 660 ATM... not sure it's stable. Just nods off from time to time when the computer ain't doing anything. bizarre. switched out PSUs to an Antec High Current Pro ran it straight 72+ hours. went back to the SeaSonic unit... now going on about 24 hours problem free.
