Computer won't boot Windows

So I'm still at it with the Core 2 Quad build.  I've got a new motherboard, an Intel DG33BU, to be exact.

Anyways, I'm trying to install Windows 10 on it.  My bootable USB, which I know works, will only stay on the Windows logo, no spinning dots show up, and it doesn't load the installer.  My hard drive with Windows 10, stays on the Windows logo also.  My hard drive with Windows 7, will load, but then mouse and keyboard won't work.

 

So I've tried my Core 2 Quad Q8300 and 8200.  I've taken out the GT 610 and using integrated graphics.  I only have one 2GB stick of RAM in there.  I've even tried clearing the CMOS.  I'm about to try the Core 2 Duo E8400, seeing if maybe it needs a BIOS update to use quad cores.

 

Anyone have anything else I can try to get this POS to install Windows?

Installed the Core 2 Duo, the Installer is loading now, and I'm at the start page for Windows install.

Quick question how long do you let it sit before reboot? And when was the last time you tested the boot drive?

Longest I let sit was about 30ish minutes last night.

My USB installer I've used on 3 different computers now.  The Windows 10 HDD I pulled out of a working build, and the Windows 7 drive I've used on several different computers.

I don't know.  Fingers crossed that the install process completes properly and it actually will boot into Windows.

hardware isn't too old is it?

Were you trying to install the OS using UEFI or Legacy?  Does your mainboard support UEFI, even with firmware update?

Well, after doing a BIOS update, which apparently completed successfully (as the on screen prompt said) I now can't get anything to display on screen.

So the system powers on, but nothing appears on the display?  What connection from the system to display are you using?  VGA, DVI, HDMI?  And is it going to a video card or directly to the mainboard?

VGA, directly to the motherboard.

I take it there is not a video card installed, at least for the purpose of testing.  And the input of the display is set to auto or VGA?  Does the display have any LEDs that indicate that there is an attempted signal, but nothing displays?

Nope, just stays in standby mode.

Everything comes on on the computer.

You said the BIOS seemed to flash fine.  Make sure the power is completely unplugged, and then try doing a CMOS jumper reset of the settings.  I can't say for certain it'll get the system to respond, but I have had the weirdest issue where after updating certain mainboards' BIOS, that original settings were held :shrug:.  After doing a jumper reset of the CMOS, the system came up without issue.  Had to go through and re-adjust the settings, though.

So the computer will only boot with a Core 2 Duo in there.  I've got the latest BIOS update and the latest chipset update.  I also have triple checked on Intel's website, this motherboard is compatible with both the Core 2 Quad Q8300 and Q8200... both which I have.  But when I put either in there, Windows just gets stuck at the Windows logo.

How new is the board?....I mean, did you purchase it new from store, or new from someone else's working environment?  I checked out the specs on the model, and it does accept the CPU: http://www.cpu-upgrade.com/mb-Intel/DG33BU.html

I already knew all this.  I looked into it last night.  Apparently the skew my two Quad Cores happen to be won't work in it.

What are the odds on that?  You going to try another mainboard, or do you have a compatible CPU?

I have my E8400.  I'm probably going to take this as a chance to get a Q9550 though.
