A Feminist software foundation?

Aaronius_Leonius

https://gitlab.com/femsf/toleranux

What the heck? This is obviously a joke. Reading the documentation tells us that it works sometimes because it has feelings to and can do whatever it wants. All programs must take up at least 50% of the ram because unused ram is wasted ram. That is partly true but there are much better ways to use ram than that. A much better way to use it would be by loading the scripts for all the bash commands or at least the commonly used ones like cd and sudo. And they actually have files in their repository. I haven't tested to see if it compiles yet but if they actually made this and it works, I'm going to eat my own head (because that's physically possible and I'm definitely not joking). What are your thoughts on this?

Edit: they apparently used to have a github page but it was taken down (It used to be at https://github.com/The-Feminist-Software-Foundation/ToleranUX). Doesn't surprise me.

Apparently someone made a programming language for it as well. https://github.com/ErisBlastar/cplusequality

It's probably a troll. If it was actually made by a feminist it would satarise so directly it would just be cringy attempts to 'empower women.'

This is their "mistress" branch. It actually has files in it that I think would compile correctly (the file locations seem correct). I will try compiling it sometime to see if it actually works. If it works, I'm going to freak.

It's funny because even coding in a way for the program to sometimes work and sometimes not work "because it may not feel like it" requires TELLING the program to only operate based off of a random number or whatever method is used to decide its mood lol

So they should probably change the documentation to "the computer will do an action based on a random number that we told it to generate. We are being a bit hypocritical but the computer is making decisions for itself."

And the way they ruined whatever distro it's based off of. I am going to post if it compiles and works later. Although it might be hard to tell if it works correctly if it makes it's own choices because someone ordered it.

I think you'd probably know better than me, but this looks like it could be just a renaming. Otherwise, it's definitely way too much work just to take a shady swipe at feminism. Either that or it could be a fully fleshed out personal project just for fun to see if something like that works. In either case, still in pretty poor taste.

It's the same people who made C+= (see plus equality).

They take stupid statements like this woman who wanted to create a feminist programming language, and then take it to the extreme with satire.

https://www.hastac.org/blogs/ari-schlesinger/2013/11/26/feminism-and-programming-languages

Here is proof it's a joke. I actually added the github page for their programming language to the original post as well. Also, I'm never using that programming language. I'm sticking with the good one, C++.

Honestly their agenda could be easily explained if they were more honest about it: They want Socialism/Communism and a redistribution of wealth and power, based on race and gender mostly.

I personally knew similar people in my lifetime that aimed for the same and to a lesser extend tried to sneak their agenda in under other pretenses (The "Anti-War" movement of the Bush era during the Iraq war) but they were far more honest about their underlying Marxist agenda and ideology: They openly support Cuba, openly call for a Communist revolution, etc. While I don't agree with most of their views today I respect the fact that they where honest about them, unlike Feminists that just leave most people "Wait, racist and sexist? Why? What the fuck is going on?" When interacting with the uninitiated.

I'm sure some feminists want that. But you're confusing the ideas of a feminist who is a communist with feminism.

Not sure how much longer this thread has till it's locked. But if you want to talk to a (pro-Iraq War) feminist, you can message me.

I was careful not to say "All" but you can clearly see a Marxist tendency on third wave feminists specially the intersectional ones.

Feminism doesn't really have an economic stance. One could be a feminist and a capitalist just as easily as a communist. The only specific I can think of that you're referring to as "Marxist" or a "redistribution of wealth" is equal pay for equal work. Which takes a certain amount of balls (pun intended) to oppose.
