Tax season is here and, thanks to a lovely girlfriend, I'm building a new system :) I've got a system planned out ( Partpicker ) which I plan on buying ... well, as soon as I know I haven't messed anything up. I'm looking for any possible advice based on what I have chosen. I think it's all sound, it's going to be primarily used for gaming with a little video editing and other menial tasks for good measure LOL Here's a breakdown, for those not liking to click on links.

CPU - Intel Core i7 7700K

Cooler - NZXT Kraken X62

Mobo - Asus Maximus IX Hero

RAM - 32gig (4x8) G.Skill TridentZ 3200

GPU - Gigabyte GeForce GTX1080 G1 Gaming

SSD - Samsung 860 Pro 256Gig

HDD - Seagate Barracuda 3TB

PSU - EVGA Supernova G3 750Watt

Case - BeQuiet Dark Base Pro 900

Obviously getting Windows 10 Home edition, a mouse and a keyboard ... oh and some Arctic Silver 5 too. For now I'll use my current monitor (BenQ GW2765) but I want/need advice on a new one to buy in a few weeks. Should I just stick with it or go for a 4k monitor? So, LTT community, are there any glaring problems with my build, have a picked parts when there are more capable parts available to me or did I do just enough research before hand to have picked a solid set of components?

Thanks in advance.

I went with the Gigabyte because I like that brand (have one of their 970s in my current rig) and because the clock settings are higher than the Strix. And 32gig because ... future proof? maybe LOL

Asus strix has much better cooling and temps.

Clock settings means nothing you can OC

LOL I was kind of expecting the first post to be something along the lines of "you should consider a Ryzen build" ... In which case I would kindly say, no thanks ;)

Don't consider ryzen, however consider waiting. Microcenter has already started to price slash the Intel CPUs in response to ryzen. Also nvidia has an event on Tuesday where they are announcing the gtx 1080 ti. Even if you don't want to fork over the extra cash for it it should drop prices of the 1080. Basically the next 2 weeks are the worst possible time to be buying pc parts as the market is about to go through several huge changes.

At the very least, wait a week to see if my Intel has to drop prices to compete with Ryzen. You may be able to save $100-$150.

Make sure to quote me or tag me when responding to me, or I might not know you replied! Examples:

Buy whatever product is best for you, not what product is "best" for the market.

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.
