Chrome Theme Background Error.

Go to solution Solved by Tryekk,

Does the image have to be 4K? The image file-size may be too large for the website/plugin to handle.

I got a theme that I liked from ThemeBeta and I wanted to change the background image on a new tab. I already have my image which is 4k, when I try to upload it with the Theme Creator from ThemeBeta the image just gets stuck at loading. So I tried to do this https://github.com/mike-u/EditChromeThemes

but when I try to install it I get thischrome.png

Idk why this happens but it happens every time. I have changed the image to PNG, JPEG, JPG but same error.

I've only got the 4k image, I'll ask to get it downscaled.

If you have a copy of Photoshop you can downscale it there. You could also try using a free program called 'paint.net' to downscale the image if you want to do it yourself.

I got photoshop but hardly use it, what would I do to downscale it?

Edit: I done it but the tool still gets stuck at loading

Edit2: Works now

Open the original file in Photoshop,

then go File -> Export -> Export As,

Then just type in the resolution you want to export the file in - I recommend either 2560x1440 or 1920x1080
