Cascading router setup?

Go to solution Solved by oloap88,

Scrap it, looks like turning off NAT is not an option on your router,

Just add a static IP and gateway to your WAN port and you should be golden..

from your manual:

Quote

The computers that are connected to the Linksys router are now on the same network, and are isolated from the upstream network. However, you will still have access to the Internet through the upstream router (by way of your Linksys router). Because two routers are between your computer and the Internet, Internet traffic undergoes two network address translations. This is sometimes referred to as Double NAT

VPN might be the only way out of it as usually VPN traffic is excluded from NAT.

However, that's a whole different story.

The subnet mask defines the size of the subnet. The IP plus the subnet mask defines the subnet. That's why we call a network 10.0.0.0/8 or 192.168.1.0/24, etc.

Everything's looking good. Thanks for your help.

Now I have my server set up. Do I disable DHCP on the router now and install DHCP role on the server to take over?

you can do that if you want, it should be fairly straightforward. But obviously put the server on a static IP address, and remember that the default gateway IP that the server gives out should still be the router, not the server.

Looking to buy GTX690, other multi-GPU cards, or single-slot graphics cards:

Looks like it's suggested to disable DHCP on the router as it can mess with server DHCP. I went ahead and disabled router DHCP. Everything seems to be working normally

Strange thing now is that I'm having trouble connecting my laptop wirelessly to the lab network. DHCP turned off on router. DHCP enabled on server and server on.

Accessing the lab network SSID but fails to connect. Password is correct. IP address and DHCP settings both set to dynamic on laptop. Makes me think I need to update the drivers on the laptop NIC or something
