GPU Cooler Wont Fit??!?

So basically I took off my gpu cooler and in the process of remounting the cooler I relise the actual mounting screws litterally wont screw back in? Can I extend them???? What should I do? TAPE??!?

can you be a bit more specific? brand/model of the card, maybe some pictures?

Gtx 660 the mounting screws don't seem to be long enough, thats as specific as I can be

Thats as specific as I can be at the moment

are you sure you're using the right screws? i remember from a 980Ti i watercooled that some screws have different lenghts.

also check if the cooler is making proper contact with the GPU die. if not, the cooler is hanging on something and needs to go down more. try wiggling it getly when you mount it.

Just for curiosity, why did you take the cooler off?

 

Is this the heatsink you are referring to? Maybe there is spring mechanism that requires some force to push down to be able to screw back in?

I am using the springy screws which are definately the correct ones but they just arent long enough for remounting oh and I took the cooler off to replace the 5 ye old thermal compound

I know theyre the right screw they have springs unlike the rest, and I have checked that there is no gap I'm not going onto a forum because I have no common sense, i want to know if there is anything I can do??!?
