how were you stressing it?

4 minutes ago, KyleKyleKyle said:

Ok so right now my settings on my i7 7700k are Volts 1.33, Multiplier 51, and Processor Cache 47. I idle at around 35c, I havent seen it go over 74 (that was only when stressing the core). I am newish to this overclocking thing. Is this doing good?

I'd say 5.1 on a 7700K is pretty good. Try AIDA64 and see your temps and clocks

please quote people when you reply.

I personally use HWMoniotr to ... monitor... temps and voltages.

I stress with RealBench because it loads the CPU and GPU with real wolrd tasks.

a few hours should do.

Whatever you feel is good enough for you to feel comfortable with your OC's stability.  Just make sure you watch your temps.  Cinebench and GTA don't necessarily heat your CPU up like stress testing.

I ran it for around 7 minutes, not long I know lol. It said average temps were 59.8 max was 77. It also says the average volts was 1.215, but am pretty sure I set it to 1.33 in the BIOS. I dunno, it seems to be doing ok I guess. Does the processor cache ratio do a lot?

You should check CPU, FPU, and Cache and rerun it.  Don't test anything else or you'll get lower temps.

OK I will look into that in a bit here, thanks for the help.

No problem.

I'm fairly confident that you're running higher than 1.215v under load.  Your LLC is kicking in and your drooping when you see the 1.2v.  Also, cache is one of the last things you should worry about.  CPU, memory, then cache.  Keep in mind that you will have to raise Vcore when you start raising your CPU cache clock speed.

That is still crazy low.  I thought GTA V was more cpu intensive with the physics and would raise temps more.  Are you running the pump and fans high speed?

You got a good chip sounds like to me.  It took 1.4v for me to get Cinebench to run 5.1ghz.

They were in "balanced" mode according to the Corsair link. I can make the pump and fans go faster but they get a bit loud lol

Ok, so pump is on quiet and runs 1900rpm and fans don't go over 80%.  That is how balanced mode configures them.  That is really good.  I only have room for two fans in this Define C for my H100i V2.

I bought the corsair 750d airflow case, mostly because I wanted room to work in, I hate tight spaces :D

Run Cinebench R15 on that bad boy at 5.1 GHz and post a screen shot.  Run CPU and single.  You have to go up to "advanced" in the menu to enable single too.
