CPU Coolers

Can you use any CPU Cooler with any socket, or do the socket on the CPU Cooler and CPU have to be the same?

Cooler screws/pins have to line up with socket, some coolers have adapters though for new sockets if referring question regards am4 and most intel sockets use the same setup so cooler work for multiple sockets.

Intel CPU, LGA775 Socket. I want to use the same cooler for a Core i3, i5, or i7 (which would probably be something like LGA1155).

Look up the model number of your MOBO and see if it has LGA775 Mounting holes.

And look up the coolers TDP and the CPUs TDP to see if it can handle the extra heat

LGA 775 is incompatible with LGA 115x. If you get aftermarket cooler, most of those have mounting for LGA 775.
