It is always better to get more powerful single GPU when possible.

 

You will definitely get more performance with two 480's however also expect to deal with a lot more troubleshooting.

Not all games support it, some that do don't necessarily run better.

looks cool also depends what games OP plays, a 1070 would be much more stable
