I want a triple monitor set up but I have heard that many games are incompatible so how bad is it? If you have a surround set up would you recommend it?

Or do you think I should get a 1440p monitor or wait a year for 4k to get cheaper?

4k won't be "cheap" within a year.

Depending on what you mean by cheap ofc, but its not going to be affordable for the majority of people, for a long time.

I'd say go with 1440p monitor + a secondary monitor for productivity.

Personally, I would get a surround set up for productivity rather than games. Eyefinity support isn't half bad, except for a few titles that crap out or their developers artificially blocking it.

4K isn't going to be cheap soon I guess (>2K USD) And 1440p monitors present a great value especially with those cheapo Korean ones.

Hopefully when G-Sync comes out you'll pay I'd say tops 800-850 dollars tops for dual maybe 27"inch monitors running resolutions of 2.5K with G-Sync enabled That is my opinion.

Its not that eyefinity or surround isn't bad for mutli-monitor setups it just that I wouldn't be able to stand having 2 or 3 screens with unplayable frame rates and the worst in-game resolutions & settings.

I would say 1440p. I have ghetto rigged a surround setup with 3 1080p monitors and it was cool but really unnecessary, there is more benefit to getting a 1440p imo. I just played BF3 with the setup and even though I had the extra vision to the sides I did not use it that much, I just looked at my center monitor when I was playing and the side ones didn't help at all.

You MIGHT be able to get a totally horrible 4K monitor for $800(in a year or 2 on sale at a discount store). But unless you have a few 290x/780s laying around I would reccomend 1440p.

conveniently enough...

take a look at my rig for some ideas - http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/69246-my-finished-eyefinity-setup-with-290xs-updated-with-more-pics/

I run three 24" IPS (details in my thread) and I have found no problems with eyefinity. any game that cant use it just pop it into windowed/beardless 1920x1080 instead of 5780x1080p

BUT I currently run two 290x's and thinking about a third. so god knows the GPU setup you will need for 3 4k's :o

Quack 🦆
