Should I get glasses?

Go to solution Solved by Bleedingyamato,

Best way to figure out for sure is go see an eye doctor.  They can do an eye exam, mostly just having you read letters and/or numbers with one eye at a time, and tell you if you need glasses.

as someone that's blind as a bat without some carefully carved mason jars in front of his eyes, backing this one.

an eye doctor will not only be able to tell you wether you need glasses, but also how badly you need them, or even if your problem is caused by something else that's reversable (tiredness in the eye muscles for example.)

My glasses are not as thick as they otherwise would be with cheap plastic lenses thanks to the nicer material I got.  It made my lenses decently more expensive but it's worth it to have thinner lenses.  I think I paid about $300 USD for them.  ?

i think i'm currently up to something like €250 per glass, made the budget decision of getting glasses with a thick frame so thicker ones dont look off :P

Is that for the frames and the lenses or just the lenses?

Are your glasses really that thick?    There aren't thinner lens options in your country?

thinner = more expensive, and that's just lenses ;)

and my current lenses are like.. 6mm-ish at the far sides of the frame, beyond that prices just go stupid :P

I paid around equivalent to $250 for eyeglasses during college. I had the Essilor Transition lenses.

lets just say i'm looking forward to when 3D printing gets fine enough to make lenses for humans.

That would be cool if it ever becomes possible.

Are those one of the kind that can change to sunglasses?

I just got a deal on my recent set, £150 for one pair or 2 for £150 :P so I got my main pair and a pair of prescription sunglasses which I'll never need the prescription for but I needed some new sunglasses and it was the same price for two pairs as it was for one so that's good I guess.

But OP, yeah. Get yourself down to the opticians mate I have to wear mine all day because I work with computers and my glasses are for eye strain and headaches and eventually migraines. Better safe than sorry.

P.S. I have health insurance through work so they pay for my eye test as standard because I work on a computer all day (which is neat because the test for me being over 16 and out of full time education like £30) and then my health insurance covered £55 of my glasses. Bargain, but worth it - I no longer suffer :)

Don't forget to @me / quote me for a reply =]
