Hey guys,

Can anyone recommended me a decent 480mm liquid cooling kit? I remember seeing one on EKWB but I can't find it anymore and Overlockers UK doesn't have any 480 kits available either. I found one but i'm not sure it's a very good quality one. ( Alphacool Cool Answer 480 )

I have a 4790K and a Core x9 case from thermal take if that helps.

Are there any AIO for 480 or DIY kits?

That kit isn't bad, It's got a good pump and the rad is decent, don't know much about the block but it probably isn't terrible coming from alphacool.

Case - NZXT H6 Flow : Mobo - ASRock X670E PG Lightning : PSU - Deepcool PX1000G : CPU - AMD Ryzen 9 7900X3D w/Arctic Freezer III 360  : Memory - G.Skill Ripjaws S5 32gb 6000mhz CL30 : GPU - MSI Expert 4080 Super : Storage - Verbatim Vi7000G 4tb NVME SSD  : Displays - Gigabyte 32" M32QC Curved 165hz & 27" M27Q Pro 165hz 1440p

I did a project log in a Core X9 last year, check my signature for ideas.

You can fit 2x 360 and a 240 in there with ease. Best bet is to just buy the bits yourself, im pretty sure EK do a new kind of guide on their website where you can put your case, cpu, board and GPU in just pick bits you want and it automatically picks the correct fittings

I tried to use the EK configurator but they don't have my GPU (They have it in the single config but it's not listed within the cpu/chassis/gpu/ram configuration)

I have an R9 290 Vapor-X OC

I would go for custom loops but i'm not really sure where to start with buying the stuff for it

---

Edit: I just entered the closest one and disabled GPU cooling

I had a 280 X vapor X and it was a pain in the ass to find a block, think I used alphacool in the end - infact it was a XSPC which I had to mod slightly

as for the loop :

Decide on tubing, flex or rigid.

If rigid go PETG its much more forgiving when heating to bend, flex is easier, but rigid looks a tonne better imo - but order more rigid than you need, errors are easy to make and will also require a heat gun and a jig of sorts for bends.

Then you gonna need compatible fittings. The thread in blocks, rads etc is g1/4 theyre all the same pretty much - fittings come in various types, compression, barb etc, I personally prefer compression - get ones suitable for your tubing, felx cant be used on rigid and vice versa. Then the diameters need to be the same, tubes are generally labelled with internal/external diameter, so 10/12mm or 3/8 - 1/2" - just make sure the tube and fittings are the same - rule of thumb is 2 fittings per component in the loop + 2 extra for drains/errors etc.

main bits - Pump, PWM if possible as it can vary speed based on temps

reservoir - not much to say here, get what you like, EK do pump/res combo's which saves 2 fittings

CPU, GPU, RAM, Chipset blocks

Rads - go as big as possible - more surface area = better cooling

Fans - High static pressure - EK varder, Noctua, Thermaltake Riing series etc

dont forget a drain point at the lowest point in the loop and coolant - either premix coloured or clear - either way make sure it has additives to prevent bacteria and corrosion

Heres an old guide I did for my very first loop, which included the modding of the 280X vapor X waterblock, it may be useful
