Playing ARK Comfortably

Just curious what type of system are you looking at to play ARK SE with around 100fps on max settings? ( I have a 144hz)

 

Right now I have an i5 2500 + a 660 that I only used for CS and for games like ARK it struggles tremendously.

 

I know GPUs have always been the big part in a games fps but do current gen i7s + higher freq on dd4 have any relevance nowadays for games? ty

Ark runs like a pile of garbage. Honestly one of the worst performing games I have played. I have no clue how they managed to get it to run on consoles. Last time I played which would be about 3 months ago with my 6800K and 980ti on the highest settings 1440p I was getting 40-70FPS.

i have a 5820k with 32 gb ram and a 1070 sli, ark has issue with frame timing to fps dips with my really high-end setup. i don't think anyone can play a poorly develop game like ark with any setup. for a high-end gaming system get a 2600k and a 480 for a good upgrade or wait for ryzen. the 7700k paired with 16 gb ram and a 1070 would give you a high-end gaming experience in all games.

i had a try with a copy of ark i borrowed from a friend (i'll let you make out how that happened in the digital era)

 

and i have to say... you're probably gonna have to toss that entire rig out and repalce to make it come even close to liking ark, that game is an optization DISASTER.

 

i mean, we're talking devs that lazy they left the executable of a game without guns as "shootergame.exe"; and didnt bother replacing the default "replace me" copyright footer.
