HI all,

When I shut down windows, the computer case fans and AIO cooler fans keep running indefinitely. I'm having to do a hard shutdown from the powerup button on the case once Windows completes it's shut down cycle. I've opened the case, jiggled all the connections, it still happens. Is this a sign my aging motherboard might be dying? Any ideas?

System:

ASUS P8 Z77-V LX

i5-3450 @ 3.10 GHz

8.00 GB

GTX 970

Windows 10

Thanks in advance for any suggestions...

when shut down, do you mean windows is in its process of 'shutting down'? (giving you that blue screen that says shutting down processes or whatever)

fans should still be spinning in this part.

do you mean when its competely off?

fans shouldn't spin in that part

do you mean while posting?

fans should spin.

And there's nothing on the screen correct? I've turned off my monitor right after I click shutdown before and there would be a program preventing shutdown that I have no clue about until the next morning.

Fans spin when completely off. Windows shuts down as expected, monitors no longer receiving signal. Everything else seems normal (posting, booting, running, shut down), it's just the hardware (fans is all I'm NOTICING) runs indefinitely.

Nothing on the screen, monitors no longer receiving signal (I don't shut off the monitors ever). I've let it run through the night before I do the hard stop a few times just to make sure. I've been doing the hard stop (after complete Windows shutdown) for about 2 weeks.
