I was copying files off of my hard drive which is not even a month old went to look in my downloads folder which is on the drive and got a error that the drive was accessible it then disappeared from explorer but is still in disk manager. Is there anything I can do besides try to get a new drive?

try using diskpart, cleaning the drive and going from there.

I know seagate has a data recovery program but i'm not sure on any of the details, looking around here for a thred on data recovery might be a good idea

Check the SMART data for the drive (the vendor will have a downloadable tool to do that).

Most drives fail either a) almost straight away or b) not for 5 years.   you might just be in the first group.

Take it back to the seller and get it replaced at no cost to you.   Most shops have a process for this.    Easier if you can show them the SMART data that says the drive is stuffed.

Go into CMD as admin and type DISKPART. Then LIST DISK. Your drive should appear and then type SEL DISK X (Which disk it is). Finally type, CLEAN and it will wipe the drive but it should now be fully accessible and will be able to hold things. If you have important info on there then try and move that first.
