I'm trying to get into PC gaming and I'm wondering which CPU and graphics card I should buy. The most demanding game I want to play is battlefield 1 on high-ultra settings, and I want to get the best value for money graphics card for 1080p gaming. Sorry if this causes any face-palms...

Yeah if you can wait... Just wait and see how Ryzen does play out. Either way, Intel may be forced to lower their prices of some of their CPUs and Nvidia may lower some of their Graphic cards to stay competitive once the new AMD parts are released. @ChengyBalz

I would get a cheaper CPU + motherboard and a more expensive GPU for that budget. An i5 6400 with a non Z-chipset motherboard should make room in the budget for a GTX 1070. This will make the system much faster overall for gaming. You wont notice the difference in games between the i5 and the i7.

Well, with the 6700K you have a more "futureproof" system and you can upgrade the GPU without worrying about bottlenecks...

An i5 will bottleneck the GTX 1080 and the next generation Nvidia xx60 card will outperform the 1080.... So an i7 can be considered more "futureproof"
