Add Covers???

I am air cooling a r4 with 2 in the front, one on the back and one on the bottem or side havn't decided. Should I re-add the sound damping material where fans could go or cover them for more air flow

Define cover them are you planning on having an air channel like they have in servers or OEM cases to help direct the airflow?

What I mean is in the r4 you can screw out 140mm ports for fans,but there are more then I use should i put the fan port covers back into their orginal place that I am not using.

 

In the photo on top and the side are grates with the cover installed,un installing the covers leaves an open grate

Oh those moduvents, you can leave it open to help with just passive exhaust or cover them to reduce noise to a certain degree.

As user of R4, 3 fans is enough for basic single GPU setup with air cooler. I would also leave all covers at their places. They won't have much effect on cooling in such big case. Thats tested fact from my previous case. Temp difference between covered and passive cooled fan mount was whopping 2C. Which fall in margin of error.
