Hi everyone! 

I started a new project in which I make a DIY sous vide cooker. If you don't know what it is, here's Luke's video on the topic, but the PCMR is about DIY! So a all in one solution is not an option! 

 

Parts list:

 

Raspberry PI 3 B+

DS18B20 water resistant temperature sensor 

A 4 relay 5v board

500W water heater

An LED 

A power splitter

7'' touch screen

 

I've done the first steps and everything looks like this:

It's a mess, but it's just the prototype. 

Next steps are to put it in a better box, create the nice GUI, connect it to the touch screen and publish the code on github. 

 

I'll update this as the build progresses!

Are there any plans to pump the water around?

Afaik an off-the-shelf sous vide cooker usually has a little pump that circulates the water.

Yes, I've thought about adding a rotor with some fins, but that will be after the other stuff are finished :)
