audio way too loud after driver update.

hey guys, i updated my audio drivers and my speakers sound amazing, i put my headset on and the volume is too damn loud !! 

my motherboard is MSI z97 gaming 5. i use the back panel input jacks.

 

is it normal ? or do i need to do something other than lower the windows volume to fix it?

On my PC I needed to put the volume at 2 with my R70x to have it a reasonable level. I found a program after googling that lets me simply set a negative gain on them and seems to have solved my issue so that at least I have SOME fine control over how loud or quiet it is.
