First PC POST problem. Won't boot

So, I just finished building my first pc, i turn it on, and all the fans spin normally and the HDD is working, but it is not displaying an image. The screen is blank. I first tried HDMI from the graphics card, in to an HDMI to VGA adapter, to an old monitor, the I went to using the HDMI from the GPU directly to a Panasonic TV. The screen is blank still. Won't POST. This is its first time booting.

I don't think VGA is supported with modern cards. try plugging your GPU via HDMI to your TV.

is that a real hdmi to vga adapter? or some knock off from china.

don't see any issues - make sure that the front i/o pins are plugged in properly and that the reset or power button pins aren't in the wrong spots - try integrated graphics too

I already did. Still didn't work.

Yeah, I can still turn it on, just no picture. I will try intergrated gpu.

well it may be able to turn on, but just check to make sure that the front i/o connections are on properly - someone had the same issue as you, it turned out to be the front io connections

Ok. How would that work? How could that cause a problem?

essentially the power connection reset connection and led connections each plug into that little slot on the mobo but it's all grouped together and hard to read the label - the negatives and positives could be reversed, connectors in the wrong positions, etc

but his computer DOES power on, it just doesn't POST.

Ok, wait, would it take a while for something to display on the screen? Cause I was expecting for a logo or something to pop up more or less instantly.

I haven't installed an os yet, this is my first time booting this pc. Ever.

wait at least 10 seconds.

 

some motherboards require a while for the first boot, but i would expect a POST after about 10-15 seconds at the most

Try booting up the PC outside of the case, just to make sure that nothing is shorting out the motherboard...

I'm just quoting you guys so you know that I had my neighbor come over (He's already built like 4 PCs) and after fiddling around with the CMOS jumper the rig just suddenly turned on and started working! Thanks a lot  for your help
