hello

i have a intel core i5 6600k and a asus z170 motherboard, so i can overclock my CPU. but i am new in pc gaming,

so i want to know how much i should overclock my CPU, its now on 3,5 GHz.

thanks everyone.

I've seen the i5 6600k overclocked to 4.9 GHz and 5.0 GHz with 4.8 being the general maximum. DO NOT DO THIS IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING.

There is no simple answer here

1. Buying a CPU when it comes to overclocking can play like a lottery system. This can create a range specific to your CPU. One i5 6600k might be slightly different to another.

2. Heat is an issue here. Watch temperatures with real temp or some type of software. Someone might recommend something else below. Could use both to get accurate readings.

3. I use Cuda64 to test the CPU and see if it crashes.

If you are newer to overclocking. I would not recommend the 4.9 GHz or 5.0 GHz if you are new as I've said above.

I would recommend 4.6 GHz or 4.7 GHz at the maximum unless you know what you're doing here. That's what I stayed with and did fine for my first over clock of a cpu the other day.

This is what I recommend and this is because I'm newer. Some other people might recommend pushing it further. I would not do this.

Max Stats (I recommend):

GHz: 4.6 to 4.7 GHz (4.7 might be pushing it as it was for me, but I did fine for tests just not over time).

Core Voltage: 1.380

Temperatures: 70c (maximum)

My set up is i5 6600k and an Asus z170-A (close to yours).

My stats

GHz: 4.6

Core Voltage: 1.380

Temperatures: 68c - 70c (I hit 75c in CSGO).

This is the maximum to me that I'm comfortable with as I'm new to this.

Again all of this is just a range which is specific to my CPU and Air cooling setup. Results may vary.
