I need an Ethernet cable that's over 100 ft. Does anyone know where I could buy a cable of this length that is not an online retailer?

You can buy a really long length of it at your local home improvement shop (Home Depot, Lowes, etc.) and put your own connectors on the ends. I bought a 100ft cable (using it to type this) on Amazon for $13 USD.

I saw that, but I'm pretty sure they only offer it in 1000 ft spools

Sure there are lots of places.

 

The problem is, we don't know where you live. I could tell you to go to my local Canada Computers location. But if you live in the UK, how would that help you?

 

Basically, check your local Hardware store. If they only have bulk spools, I would also check any local computer shops (even if they don't carry one in stock, they may be able to order one for you). Finally, you could check to see if your area has a Surplus Discount type store (kind of like an Army Surplus store, but they often carry electronics and cables/adapters, etc).

 

Also, I would suggest getting Cat 5e at minimum. That should handle 1Gbps (although that speed isn't guaranteed at that spec over that distance). If you can get Cat 6 for the same or similar price over Cat 5e, do it.
