Pc:https://pcpartpicker.com/list/fYMTnn

I need more ram for certain games that I play. I wanted a 2x4 GB kit of avexir ddr3. Unfortunately the kind I am looking for seems to be out of stock. Newegg has basically has the same kind except it has different voltages and latency by going off what the specs are on pcpartpicker. Having a hard time finding some with the same specs.

Unsure what power supply to pick?

Check out my HTPC build.

DDR3 is universal right?

... no? there are tons of systems that do not use DDR3 out there.

I've heard (but never tested myself) that if you use mismatched RAM, the motherboard will attempt to merely run the RAM and the lower of the two speeds. so it SHOULD work even if they have different specs. but there is always the chance that one of the kits may not be able to scale down due to RAM timing issues or some other reason, and if that happens then they will not operate together. I also do not know if this effect would be present even if you ran them in separate memory channels (most modern systems have at least 2 memory channels).

Can anyone with a bit more experience in this area confirm or reject this information?
