Black bars

Hey guys my monitor has black bars on the sides and i cant seem to figure out how to stretch my screen so that there is no more black bars, im running a ati video card. this is my back up monitor never had this problem before.

Unplug the power for your monitor for 5 minutes and see if t works then.

:edit: I had to do something real quick, but you can also try reinstalling your graphic drivers. I remember a friend of mine had this problem a while back but I'm not sure what the solution is.

Did not work, It is like it wont recognize my widescreen

Maybe try a different port? I will ask my friend when i get home.

I think the problem is,iirc, something like half of the screen is missing. But its like the left portion of a full 1080p desktop is being shown on the right side of the monitor.

:edit: unless he's saying the screensize is literally shrunk down then i am deeply mistaken.

Black bars with using an AMD graphics card...adjust your Under / Over Scan options in VECC (CCC).

 

"My Digital Flat-Panels" >> "Scaling Options (Digital Flat-Panel)" >> Slide the bar to 0%.

 

Some monitors needs to have the Under / Over scan settings adjusted (like my ASUS monitor) while others do not (my Acer monitor). Also, using a HDMI (DisplayPort as well?) output will cause this problem sometimes.

Try selecting the auto-adjust option in the monitor's settings.
