GPU Fan Cooling

Should I mount 2x120 fans blowing air to my GPU (EVGA GTX 980 ACX 2.0) or away from it to reduce temps? Would blowing cool air to it just block the air attempting to leave, thus choking it? Or would it supply it with cool air, decreasing temperatures?

To it. Having exhaust fans near the card creates opposing air flows. Any extra air that comes in will just push air out through the cracks of the case.

But wouldn't the air being exhausted from the card into the case and air being pushed to it cause opposing air flows?

You will want a balance of both, to be able to bring in fresh cold air and remove hot air, a well balanced system is better than one that is overly postie or negative in air pressure.

I plan on adding four fans to my case (which is already fairly balanced in regards to air flow): Two intake, two exhaust at either the top or bottom fan mounts. I'm worried that if I put the intake fans close to and facing the GPU bringing air into the case, this will just increase GPU temperatures. Am I right in thinking this? (For reference, my case is an Air 240)
