Numlock doesn't turn on on startup

Go to solution Solved by oskarha,

Have you tried this registry fix?

http://www.howtogeek.com/244606/how-to-enable-num-lock-automatically-when-your-computer-boots/

I have had the same problem before and this has fixed it ;)

Build 10586.164

OS: Windows 10

Numlock would turn off when booting Windows. Numlock indicator is on during POST but turns off when rhe Windoes logo show up.

It didn't happen to me the first time I had Windows 10. Then I dual boot and Numlock would turn off during GRUB.

after that I clean remove Ubuntu and then clean install Windows completely. I then proceed to service manager to turn off Windows update.

Last time this happens I had to make 2 script files: 1 would show up a message reminding me to turn on Numlock and one after I logged in just in case. As you can see it is really annoying and ineffective.

I use Numpad quite a lot so need a solution on how to make it auto turn on itself in Windows

I also fix boot manager and everything related to that (fixboot, fxmbr) as well as change registry value to 2 or 8000002 but didn't work.

Any ideas?

There is a BIOS setting for the num lock state on boot, you can try that. Windows randomly disables the num lock for my machine on boot, so it may just be a windows bug.

you can usually turn it on / off in the bios.

try to turn it off and on a few times with restarts.

Did you do the second step?

Once you’re done, you should just be able to reboot and Windows 10 should automatically enable Num Lock at boot. However, it doesn’t actually work this way. The Fast Startup feature, also known as Hybrid Boot, overrides this setting and Windows will continue to boot with Num Lock off.

Seems like they have a trick that lets you have fast startup enabled in the link i sent.
