I'm not a big gammer, and i hate keyboard gamming. But I have a pretty decent computer and hope to get a 1080 Ultrawide Moniter. I would like to get a graphics card, for a few games that id like to play. I'd like to try the remastered skyrim, southparks new game, I'd like to try the far cry series, and the assasin's creed games. Nothing that has been anounced for 2017 makes me wanna get a super beefy card, unless red dead 2 gets, anounced for PC. Being that said, I'd like to get a cheap graphics that can handle those games at 60 fps, on the ultrawide. I'm thinking RX 480 and an LG freesync monitor, But I like Nvidia as a brand better.

I've got a i5-6500, 32 gb DDR4, and an Samsung 850 evo, with a WD blue HDD.

You really don't want to go Nvidia, especially now.

Go and get yourself an RX480 8GB (or wait a few more months for vega, should be a lot more powerful than last gen)

Just try not to get stuck the Green team, as their new software decisions & support have been abysmal as of late.

Want to know which mobo to get?

Spoiler

Choose whatever you need. Any more, you're wasting your money. Any less, and you don't get the features you need.

Only you know what you need to do with your computer, so nobody's really qualified to answer this question except for you.

Considering there's only one G-sync Ultra wide that's $999...

What's your budget?

Would probably end up with this, there is a 29" 21:9 free-sync 1080p display, but it's $250 and only 60hz, probably not worth it

Or just get a 1080p 144hz TN free-sync display if gaming is your main focus

Hello,

Given the type of setup you are planning to have, you will benefit more from an AMD gpu, particularly if you want to utilize the variable refresh rate feature of the monitor. Freesync or G-sync isn't universal right now. So combining a Freesync monitor with an AMD graphics card makes more sense.

Additionally, AMD cards are usually cheaper compared to similar Nvidia cards.

However, if you are not interested in freesync, and absolutely want to go the Nvidia way you can go for a GTX 1060. The benchmark shows its a great card for 1080p gaming.
