I'm looking into purchasing an Amazon Echo, though before I do I'd like to know more about them. My first question is, what's the difference between the echo dot, echo, and echo tap? Another question I have is how exactly does it work with all the smart appliances I have (or will have in my case) In my house? Also any other info you know that you'd think someone who knows nothing about the Echo and smart appliances would need to know would be nice if you posted as well.

Echo- Desktop Echo w/ built in speakers

Echo dot- Desktop Echo withOUT speakers (only microphones) uses 3.5mm jack to connect to speakers externally

Echo Tap- Portable Speaker w/ Alexa built in.

Not sure about appliances it works with. HUE lights?

Also, maybe look at a Google Home. I am thinking of buying that instead.

Ok. The Google home IMO is going to be better in terms of the software. We will need to wait and see exactly how it stacks up but purchasing a Personal Assistant Device based on looks and not how well it works with your other devices it dumb.

As in terms of how it works. Not sure. Maybe bluetooth not 100% sure.

from all I've heard the echo is already pretty good, I won't sacrifice my nice gaming setup's looks for an ever so slightly better personal assistant. echo already does everything I'm purchasing it for and is only getting better.

Alright. If I may ask, what do you plan to use if for? I want something similar just to have and play with but really dont know ALL of its functionality.

I'm going to be using it for controlling my smart appliances with my voice, as well as little things like news and the time. as simple as that.

dont stick echo near a tv unless you want doll houses ordered . disable settings

I don't watch TV, I watch twitch, youtube, and Netflix. I have yet to see an ad advertising the echo on those, even if I did I wear headphones. Haha problem solved.
