Asus ROG mobo?

Hey guys, I haven't been in the PC builds community to long so hopefully ya'll can help me out a bit.

So far what I have seen over the last few year is if asus releases a mini-itx mobo like they did with the "Asus Z170 pro gaming mini-itx" they then release a stronger & better board for gaming at-least which was the "Asus ROG Z170 VIII impact".

 

Now recently they have just released the "Asus ROG Z270i Strix mini-itx" mobo & this confuses me a little bit because they started off right away with a "ROG" mini-itx mobo for Z270 ... So is there a better mini-itx ROG version coming out after this or this is it?

 

They haven't followed their usual trend with mini-itx mobo's this time around by releasing the ROG version right off the bat so what do you guys think?

 

Reason why this is important for me to know is because I wanted the top of the line Z270 mini-itx board and if there is another ROG board coming out despite this unfamiliar pattern release then i'd rather wait for it.

What CPU do you have? Keep in mind that some people have been reporting SkyLake CPU's and Z270 boards not working, even with bios updates, while others seem to have no issues. I have an Asus Z170I Pro Gaming ITX motherboard That i just got at the beginning of this past January knowing that the Z270 boards were coming out, and there's virtually no difference between it and the new ROG ITX boards.

It's a new build for me entirely so makes more sense to go with the newer stuff so will be getting the 7700k.

But if im going to purchasing the Asus ROG Z270I Strix I want to know that it's the best mini-itx for asus for z270 like how the VIII Impact was for z170.

 

Now because they didn't follow the same trend i stated above i dont know if this z270i strix is the top of the line or not.

Okay yeah if its a new build go for the latest and greatest, but as far as Asus ITX motherboards go the Z270I ROG Strix is the top board. If a Maximus board is to eventually come out we have no way of knowing, but my Z170I Pro Gaming board has so many capabilities that I don't even have use for so I wouldn't even worry about it.

For me personally important features on a ITX board are audio cards, on board wifi, support for 3200MHz RAM minimum, m.2 slot, and at least 4 sata connectors, ethernet, and USB 3.0, and a decent amount of fan headers, all fo which the Z270I ROG Strix board has. It's a really nice mobo. You don't need to worry about it. This thing is loaded:

Also ITX builds are dope, I got my motherboard and CPU on a wicked sale before Christmas and I love it!

Sadly none of what I will need for this new build will be on sale lol rather it's insane what they cost now.

$260 CAD for a asus mini-itx motherboard lol.

 

For me it was always more about the aesthetics of the board hence I just wanted to know if they'll be making a "asus rog maximus IX mini-itx" because atleast to me those "maximus" mini-itx boards look sick & im huge on aesthetics.

The one out now looks really good too.

Yeah nothing new is on sale, I got my i5-6600k for this system for $240 that now still retails for $310 and my motherboard for $180 that now retails for $220, so I was happy with that (all in CAD). One thing I'd recommend is the Crucial MX300 m.2 drives, they cost just as much as the SSD MX300's here in Canada, not m.2 read and write speeds but it’s nice to one less SSD in an ITX build.

Planning on getting the samsung 850 evo m.2 250gb for OS & for storage ill just use my 4TB black WD 3.5" which I didn't sell because I need it + alot of my info on it.
