Obviously newer faster lower power ram is better,

but does anyone have data on the actual performance impact of:

  • ddr3 vs ddr4
  • sddr3 vs sddr4
  • 1 vs 2 sticks of ram

when using skylake/kabylake integrated graphics?

Build: Intel S2600gz, 2x E5-2670, EVGA SC 1070, Zotac 1060 6GB mini, 48GB Micron 1333mhz ECC DDR3, 2x Intel DPS-750XB 750 watt PSU

Dual channel DDR4 is definitely beneficial as the iGPU relies heavily on memory bandwidth. But whether or not it will make an impactful difference depends on what you're using the iGPU for. For gaming, it would help -- but an iGPU is still weak for gaming and for normal office/desktop use it won't matter.

It's going to matter a lot more for AM4 APU system I'd imagine, here's a last gen scaling test and some benchmarks

it matters for intel too, but their iGPU on 99% of their line up is really weak

Actually until a ryzen apu comes out, Intel igpu has surpassed AMD's.

That's only on the broadwell chips, because it has an L4 cache the iGPU can use, and those were like super expensive when they launched because of the L4 cache

the i7 was like $500 something at launch if I remember right, if AMD implemented the same type of cache they'd be much faster as well, it's like how the PS4 has an APU with GDDR5 to greatly speed it up

Although I suppose with high speed DDR4 skylake/kaby lake might be able to catch AMD's last gen APU in iGPU performance

 In passmark (I know, not the best source), HD630 gets 1144, a 7850k gets 1020, a 7890k gets 1228, and HD4600 gets 705.

So, HD630 is 60~ faster than HD4600 (rough estimation based on passmark scores), so a Kaby Lake CPU with HD630 would get 66 fps (extrapolated from your chart). So it should be at least close if not better than a 7850k/7860k. With that said, a 7890k should be faster than both (and get around 70fps).

All very rough estimates based on synthetic benchmarks, so a mountain of salt is needed.
