Motherboard/CPU Power Consumption

AlexBF

Hey guys, I'm going to build a computer but I don't know if a cpu that has a 95W power consumption, needs a motherboard of 95W power c. or more just to be sure.

These are the components: "ASRock FM2A78M-HD+ FM2+" and "AMD A10 7870K A-Series FM2+". Both say 95W but I don't know if they are actually compatible.

The "95W" is likely the TDP rating, or how much heat the CPU's cooling system needs to dissipate to maintain safe temperatures.

The only thing you need to worry about with motherboard and CPU combinations is the socket and possibly chipset compatibility. I'm not familiar with AMD's side of things, but if you use PC Part Picker, it should flag a compatibility issue if one exists.
