So i have a Toshiba Satellite C660 that used to be my sister's.

I only has an i3, but thats perfect for like my mom.

But it keeps shutting down after a while, mainly under a bit of load.

I made it crash by just watching twitch.tv

I do feel the fan blowing and we have used a compressed air can on the fans.

Current OS is Kali linux. (im intrested in cyber security and want to use this computer instead of a VM)

What can i test and with what tools. Currently im going to monitor cpu/ram load when watching a stream and watch what happens.

I'm also trying to find a way to monitor the cpu temp but nothing seems to be giving a cpu temp.

It seems that it is overheating. You should take it apart and clean the inside. Be careful blowing air into it like you mentioned; You don't want to damage the fans that way. I would add some new thermal grease.

Yeah overheating was also my first guys, i've never really took a laptop apart :P but im not affraid to give it a try, youtube will guide me trough :D

Would i really need to apply new thermal paste? never done this before

It would be strongly recommended. It's cheap, and can really help, especially if a computer hasn't had a change of thermal compound in a while (or ever).

Yep, that's what I figured you'd find. Hope it runs better now.
