i stream on twitch from time to time and when i do i stream in 720p so even people with bad internet can watch. i would like to do highlight videos on youtube but if i save the videos directly from my twitch the quality looks pretty bad? is there anything i can do to make the video from my stream look good?

Can you not just save the original footage as you're playing? (i.e. when you're streaming, once it encodes or something, it's both sent to twitch servers and saved to your hard drive)

Looking at my signature are we now? Well too bad there's nothing here...

one way could be streaming using obs and capturing using nvidia shadow play.

Yeah thats one way but the thing is that i will probably forget to start it and then i will loose good footage.. if theres a way for me to just press "start streaming" and it will stream and save on my harddrive that would be better.

If you're using OBS Studio, click the 'Settings' button on the bottom right of the OBS window. Under 'General' (the default tab it opens) there should be a check box, 'Automatically record when streaming.' Make sure that is checked; it's the fifth option down from the 'Language' and 'Theme' drop-downs. After that, go to the 'Output' tab (still in the Settings window). If output mode is set to 'Simple' you should see the 'Recording' box and the 'Recording Path' option. Browse to the folder you want to save the recordings to (I have mine on record to a secondary SSD). If output mode is 'Advanced' you just have to click the 'Recording' tab to change the path and format. You can even have it use a different encoder as opposed to the one for the stream (stream is CPU encoding, recording is GPU encoding, for example) or rescale the recorded file (downscale only apparently, can't do 720p for stream and 1080p for recording; at least from what I can tell).
