So I have a TP-LINK TL-SG1008D-V6 8 Port LINK, and the problem I am having is that the download speed slows down to 80mbps from 200mbps every 4 ish hours, and the only way to fix this is to reboot it every time. Is there any way I can fix this?

Thanks,

Cameron

First, make sure it is the switch that has the problem... try attaching your PC to the router directly and see if you still have problems. Also, could be the ISP maybe? have you confirmed that other devices can still get 200Mbps at the time your PC slows down to 80?

That is strange indeed. Are all the tests you did without resetting the router? so then at least we know that it's your PC or possibly the connecting leads/equipment that's the cause of the problems.

All the ISP can do is check what speed you are getting TO the main telephone junction box at your house/cable box and hence your router, anything else is not their problem. I don't know what setup you have there so it's hard to figure out where the problem might be.

For now forget what your phone/tablet is getting, that isn't going to help really other than the fact it's helped diagnose that it's only your PC being limited. Have a look on your router to see if it has a link speed anywhere. What ISP/service are you using right now and waht router?

@paddy-stone  I'm currently with Virgin Media, using the Superhub 2 Router, and I don't think there is a link speed.

Ahh I see, maybe you are running afoul of their terms of servce and the service is getting throttled?

If you're seeing your PC get limited both when it's connected into the switch, and to the router directly... then the switch isn't the problem for sure. I'm afraid I don't know much about the cable routers as I can't get cable where I live, so no help there. Unless you have another wired device you can check the connection to the router from I don't know what else to suggest. It's got to be either the router itself or the PC, but as you get a higher speed from wifi than the PC gets, I'm inclined to believe it's the PC that's the problem. You could try re-installing the ethernet driver.
