Leading up to my build that I am going to start on soon. I was thinking that I could possibly get a cooler PC if I used more fans. I have some fans lying around not in use, I want to try and mount them on the inner side of the side panel of the case (if I have the correct pin cables of course). Just to put this in perspective, I want to try and mount as many fans as I can on the side panel. Is this a good idea, or a horrible idea?

It will very likely not make that much of a difference. You will see a difference between having some fans vs none but slapping a billion fans onto your side panel will not really improve things that much. You can certainly try but I personally would rather have a PC that runs just a tad hotter but doesn't blow my eardrums out every time I fire it up.

I haven't fully decided them yet. But, I am thinking about a Q6600 paired with a R9 270X.

Please list all your specs.

If you're planning a new system or upgrade, do it as a whole in the New Builds and Planning subforum instead of preemptively segregating the discussion.
