Hi all.

Yesterday I finished building my new PC, here are the specs:

Intel Core-i7 7700k @ 4.2 GHz

Noctua NH-L12 CPU cooler

ASUS Z270M-Plus

Kingston ValueRAM DDR4-2400MHz 8GB (x2 - this is NOT a dual channel kit. bought two units of the same stick.)

Intel 600p M.2 NVMe PCIe 128GB

Western Digital BLUE 1TB HDD (currently not connected. In need for a right-angle SATA power connector.)

Graphics card: Ordered an MSI 1050 Ti 4GB. It is on its way. Currently running on the Intel integrated GPU.)

Screen: Samsung 4K 28" UE590 LU28E590DS/ZA

Windows 10 Home

After putting everything together, downloading all drivers and installing everything, the first thing I noticed is that Windows feels VERY (!) laggy and unresponsive. When I move the mouse fast enough I can see traces of it, ghosting if that's what it's called. Clicking the 'Start' button and it pops up not smoothly at all. (After installing windows for the first time it even took about 30 seconds to pop up!) Extracting ZIP files using the built-in windows utility and the results I see don't make me happy at all - it builds its speed up and at times falls to complete 0 before continuing with the extraction. Moving opened windows feels laggy as well (ghosting, llike with the mouse.) etc. etc. Please check out this video:

It is a 2-min YouTube video of I captured @ 4K of the problems.

(In the video it is very exagerated because the recording it self took some resources, but the actual performance isn't far from what you see there.)

I wen't to the BIOS and disabled all CPU power management features (C-tep and SpeedStep), so the CPU runs @ 4.2GHz constant. I also check M.2 is set to PCIe and not SATA.

It did no good. Still laggy.

I thought the M.2 stick might be faulty, so I installed everything on the HDD and set the PC to boot from it. Everything stays the same.

Could it be the iGPU? I tried reducing the resolution, but it did not help.

For some reason I don't believe that's the case. Mainly because I tried running everything from the HDD without any difference, and also the ZIP extraction speed bugs me.

Any suggestion, guys? I really feel furstrated :(

Thanks for any kind of assistance!

vZ88.

I'm not sure, but it may be the problem related to either iGPU driver or Windows 10 itself.

Delete all available display drivers and download the driver from here : http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/misc/vga/VGA_2120164551_20170120_Win10_64.zip

and try to install it manually.

If it still doesn't work, change your OS from Windows 10 to Windows 8.1 x64 and install

http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/misc/vga/VGA_2120164551_20170120_Win7-81.zip

this iGPU driver and check whether the problem is gone.

Or just download the newest from Intel themselves? :D

And they are usually out of date which is maybe why they're only made for windows 8.1? :D

Well... they'd test the drivers to check the compatibility issues so drivers on the site would be more reliable. Don't know whether they really test or not :S

Thank you both for the reply!

I uninstalled the current 630 graphics driver, and for some very strange reason when I downloaded the drivers you both suggested and tried installing them, I got this error: "The system does not meet the minumum requirements for software installtion." (free translation, my windows version is not English.)

What's that about? :\

Also, @PenPoint suggested I'll install Windows 8.1. Where do I get that from?

Hmm, that's strange.

This is an official tool that you can either download the Windows 8.1 .iso file or directly making boot drive.
