Android - factory reset doesn't work

My phone tells me that there isn't enough memory (which is wrong) and because of that I get so many "xxx has stopped working" windows that it's impossible to do anything, I tried to perform a factory reset but all the data is still there.

how did you do the factory reset? through the phone's settings menu or in the recovery menu?

Both, I somehow managed to get to the settings before errors popped up.

try clearing the data partition in the recovery menu. 

also, is your phone on the stock recovery or did you flash something before?

I erased cache partition and data, all the data is still there.I'm not sure if it's flashed or not, the phone was unlocked without unlock code from my carrier so it might be flashed.
