Hi, please help me if possible.

A new system I have built. I can't get it to POST, when I turn the system on the cpu fan, back fan and graphics cards fans all turn on and light up. It turns on for about 10 seconds, turns entirely off (fans and lights) then starts back up again. It only does this once. I can't get it to post either, the screen recognizes a signal but goes into power saving mode. I have tried removing the GPU, the power does the same thing. If I remove the ram I get 3 short beeps looping. I wondered if it was needing a bios update for the CPU, I am using a kaby lake i5-7600k in an asrock E3VS W5 board, however I can't update if it won't post.

Thanks in advanced
Jamie

Yeah, you need a BIOS update more than likely.

Though why are you using a K series CPU in a C series board (server chipset)?

It's just what motherboard I've been given. Will it still be okay if I use a C series board?

Yeah, it'll be okay, but I mean you can't overclock on it with the multiplier (Depends on board though). Usually C series boards don't allow overclocking (They're made for Server Xeons after all).

That will be okay, won't need overclocking anyway. How can I update the bios via a flash drive etc without POST?

You can't sadly. You'd have to find a Skylake CPU to get the motherboard to post. This particular board doesn't support BIOS update without a CPU installed.

Only a handful of boards would allow you to do so.
