So planing my first gaming PC build and looking to leave the world of consoles to join the master race. That said I am looking for the best Z270 MB and here is the 2 I found

Asus Z270 IX ROG Formula   EVGA Z270 Classified K

Both boards are very nice and almost cost the same but what should I go with?

more like i want to ask

WHY do you need the best mobo???

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

design and quality that's why people buy expensive parts.

that is just stupid

buying a Racing/Gaming mobo wont make your PC run faster

buy what you need not what you want

not really quality caps and another component will make it last longer.

bro

If you really want a long lasting board

you might as well get the Asus TUF Z270 MARK 1

it comes with 5 year warranty vs 3 for the ROG

and its 140 buck cheaper

Formula is built with custom water cooling loop and extreme OC in mind hence the Formula and upcoming Extreme boards

people likes aesthetic and rog provides a certain feel,  like Alienware computers msi makes better computer and cheaper but people still buy Alienware even if that has no benefit. in my opinion go for a x99 build rather than a rog build.

that my friend is just wasting money

only dumb asses buy Alienware and Razers

I can also take the Asus TUF and make it pretty with time and effort using air brushing

@JohnFPS

what is the whole budget for the system?

does the mobo need to be cooled as well?

If not

ignore the Formula and the EVGA boards

go for the Hero if you still want the ROG look and focus on just cooling the CPU and GPUs

No Budget in a way but don't want to go X99 because its a gaming only PC and not editing PC. But I am thinking about getting a Case Labs SM8 case and the MB tray is EATX and ATX may look bad in the build. Thats why I thought about EVGA both are good MBs but yes I know about have much rog is a bit BS ok maybe Allot of BS stuff that you don't need.

The top of line boards aren't out yet. IX Rampage and the WS board should be soon. Not to mention the OC boards from various vendors.

That is true but after seeing videos of IX Rampage I don't like the look of it. And its a gaming PC not WS.

Have not got one yet but the MB will most likely decide that.

you might want to look at a few other brands of mobo as well as their model range

if i am planning on doing a Snow Camo system

I will pick this

https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/Z270-XPOWER-GAMING-TITANIUM.html#productFeature-section

normal red/black

https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/Z270-GAMING-M5.html#productFeature-section

and also Asus white builds

Products labeled gaming/gamer is a tax, it doesn't mean it's better for gaming.

The WS is the highest end board ASUS makes. The components are a step up from the ROG. Everything down to the power connectors are beefier.

What do you think about Asus ROG IX Formula?

I think it is a high end board with a sweet watercooled VRM. I'd get it over the EVGA. Not a fan of RGB though bit there's nothing wrong with it.

The EVGA is not one I am looking at because just saw I/O and its dose not have enough USB for my needs. But I did say I don't like the look of the IX Extreme but I just went to asus web site and IDK if they just added the Extreme to the web site but they did and it looks cool.

The Extreme has a sick monoblock that cools CPU, VRM and an M.2 SSD but will most likely be $600+. I like the IX Apex the best out of ROG but its more of a hot rod for overclocking.

It's a great board man.  I've been running mine with a 7700k in a full loop for a couple weeks and the board has been great.  Overclocks nicely and is just packed full of stuff that I didn't think I needed, but ended up using.

Funny that you mention x99 and a CL SM8.  I have a 5960x build that I just moved to a CL SM8.  It was in a CL S8 with a pedestal, but my z270 build is in there now.  The SM8 is a great case as are any CL cases.

Good luck with the build.
