I prefer ANY membrane KB over a cherry red.

However, no membrane switch can be compared to blues for me. Blues trump all (except maybe greens, which are oh so hard to find in mainstream keyboards)

When in doubt, re-format.

Honestly, I prefer membrane for typing (don't kill me), since it usually has lower travel distance. It is also probably because I have been using a membrane for 5 years before I switched to mx blues.

I'm currently using the MSI Interceptor DS4100 membrane. I used to own a mech kb (it was black kailh switches, I think). Sure, it was great, I know that switch is not the best when comparing the blue or the green one.

When I test out the MSI kb, the feel is very similar to my old laptop and I love how quiet it was when using it.

"Feel" is very subjective, each person have their own preferences.

So that depends. I'm pretty equal between them, I only have a mechanical keyboard as it gets me backlighting, metal construction and generally a nicer product. But if I could have had an Apple Magic Keyboard for Windows, I would. Chiclet keyboards are my favourite, but sadly most membrane keyboards are awful, low quality bits of creaky plastic.

EDIT: I actually have double o-rings on my mech board to reduce the travel to a more laptop-esque level.

Try doubling up some o-rings. I tried it a few months back on my MX Browns and it's like night and day.

I agree. Though I technically type faster on a laptop keyboard due to faster reset I do much prefer the overall feel of my mx browns.

a laptop keyboard is a membrane keyboard... and what does "faster reset" mean?

Shallower/less travel. Laptop keyboards are also not quite the same as traditional membrane keyboards.

laptop keyboards cannot be generalized as a whole. There are full sized keyboards out there that feels and looks the same as a low key travel laptop keyboard. You could also buy a laptop with a mechanical keyboard on it. "traditional membrane keyboards"... well, you mean the old IBM keyboard? or a common HP keyboard?....

I'm referring to modern keyboards and what's generally used, not rare oddities.

There are traditional desktop mechanical keyboards, traditional desktop membrane keyboards, and traditional laptop scissor-switch membrane keyboards. The scissor-switch mechanism changes a lot about the way the typing experience is, and thus are generally classified separately from traditional membrane switches found in most desktop keyboards.

I prefer Mech keyboards over Rubberdome anyday, even with Red switches which basically are just.. better Rubberdomes (from the feel of them). Would love to get my Hands on Green switches though, but i can never find a Groupbuy/Drop with Green Switches that supports more than just Paypal. x_x
