Budget: $800 US for gaming, 1 monitor.

Hello Guys, I'm really bad with forums but i LOVE watching Linus tech tips on youtube and thought i would give this forum a shot. I'll do my best.

--I bought a computer from ibuypower back in 2013 and have been upgrading it piece by piece for the past 4 years. My ultimate goal is to upgrade this build, and build another gaming PC from my old parts. Lets get into it..

The original ibuypower computer came with. CPU: AMD 9590 FX, GPU: AMD HD 7990, Cooling: CPU Corsair 125 mm watercooled radiator, RAM: 2 Corsair Vengeance 4gb DDR3 RAM, Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 R5, PSU: 1200w 80 plus bronze, Case: NZXT Phantom Full-Tower Case (White).

I was having overheating problems with this rig and began to upgrade slowly. I now have GPU: EVGA GTX 1080 ftw, and RAM: 4 Corsair Vengeance 4gb DDR3 RAM

I applied new thermal paste to my CPU and added fans wherever they would fit in my case which helped with the heating issue. **I AM LOOKING FOR SUGGESTIONS and or ADVICE on where i should take it from here.

My goal is to go full INTEL and get a new CPU. I am currently looking at the Intel i7 6700k Skylake which would require me to upgrade my Motherboard and RAM (ddr4). I need help and suggestions on what products i should get to get the best performance for my gaming rig. And i don't know if this helps, but i use EVGA precisionx OC software for my overclocking. Also is my PSU good enough? Should i get something more than 80 plus bronze?

Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly apprecicated thank you!

I would get i7 7700k if you can for extra overclock boost very nice

For a high end build like this you should get good PSU. Pick one from Tier 2 and 1

Yours is fine but I don't know which PSU exactly. It could be a bomb

I am also curious about the max turbo frequency and integrated graphics neweggs compare says the i7 6700k has over the i7 7700k could you help me understand this?

your psu is fine, shouldn't need an upgrade. i'd suggest this:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Core i7-7700K 4.2GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($344.75 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard: ASRock Z270 Killer SLI/ac ATX LGA1151 Motherboard  ($143.98 @ Newegg)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws 4 Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3000 Memory  ($99.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $588.72
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

and some better cable management.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Heatsink: Gelid Phantom Black GPU: Palit RTX 3060 Ti Dual RAM: Corsair DDR4 2x8GB 3000Mhz mobo: Asus X570-P case: Fractal Design Define C PSU: Superflower Leadex Gold 650W
