Hey,

I used to have a fan curve where GPU temp was reaching 70c highest @ 50 % fan speed. Noise started annoying me, so I adjusted fan curve to be 45 % @ 75c. When gaming for several hours, I noticed max temp of 74c under full load. I know Nvidia's thermals is reaching critical danger zone above 90c degrees, but I'm curious to what temps you guys are ok with, if you hate noise like me :P

@Tech Wizard 74-75c is fine for a GPU under load

I also dont like the noise (or the heat)

so i almost always set a FPS limit of 60-65fps on my games (i play on a 1080p 60hz monitor)

By doing this my GPU is not trying to render any more frames than my display can handle and so it dramatically reduces my GPU temps while having no effect on performance

My GPU temp dropped from 75c to 60c in Overwatch by just setting a fps limit of 60

I agree with the FPS limit method, no reason to put extra preasure on the GPU to render over 60 frames if your monitor is only 60hz, but I am rocking a 144hz 1080p monitor, but even with it, I've set FPS limits to 100 in every game, and still maxes out GPU load @ 100 % on AAA titles :P

70-75 c is still pretty good for a GPU. but are you overclocking? removing it may help reduce temps.

Yeah, it's overclocked to 2,2GHz, without touching voltage. I prefer having it overclocked. Without it it's dipping down to 60FPS in AAA titles on ultra, and that ruins the point of my 144hz monitor :P

I let mine get up to 81-82 degrees on max load, running at 2560x1080 and 75Hz w/ Freesync. It's not quiet, but it's not unbearable, especially since I wear headphones.

Case airflow is also another huge factor

i was able to reduce temps by 2-3c by adding an exhaust fan on my case side panel while reducing the GPU fan speed slightly

I managed to get really lucky with my 7950 in this regard. My fan curve is incredibly lazy (35% @ 65C) and somehow it stays at or under 65C. Guess the TwinFrozr III is actually really beastmode, even with a small heatsink and tiny fans.

EDIT: As for my GTX 480, I let it get to 71-72C, which is 71-72% fan speed. It really isn't all that loud either which is nice.

Oh God that's hot! I'm too scared to let mine reach high 70s even...

Meh, it's hot but not unsafe. The airflow in my case is a bit shit though, a single 200mm in front mostly covered by a massive metal plate, and just over 1cm of space between the GPU's fans and the PSU shroud.

What i would do to better optimize your case airflow (its fine already but im OCD)

1. Move both the SSD's to the mounts on the back of the case (behind the mobo, your case is perfect for this)

2. Remove the bottom HDD cage altogether

3. Place something to cover the bottom mesh that will be exposed. This will better channel air from the front intakes towards the rear of the pc. (as little as something like black cardboard to make it looks kinda flush)
