Hey guys!

So, I needed some quick advice/help. Since I got my GTX 1050 Mini from Zotac, I thought it would perform fine with most games, especially since I only have a 1280x1024 60Hz panel. But, I've been playing some games recently that should run very solidly with a CPU that logically is worse than mine, as I've seen friends and gameplay have the best performance. But, for me, running games like The Crew on high (not even ultra) only get me 30-40 fps. Could it be that my A8-6500 CPU is really that bad? Or should the performance be better? I have the Witcher 3 downloaded, but I haven't played it. Should I use that as a benchmark? Maybe it's just The Crew that has bad performance optimization?

What's also been bothering me is that whenever I run a game, it says that my PC has run out of memory after playing for a while. Checking out the task manager shows many processes that shouldn't be taking up a lot of memory, CPU, or disk. hogging the whole system! It's horrifying! Usually, processes like Service Host: Local Network and Antimalware Service Executable didn't take up 50% of my RAM, CPU, or whatever. Help!?

first thing use task manager kill all tasks that are background killing your pc with in reason

second see if your cpu is at 100% or close to usage in task manager if so theres your problem

third check your gpu usage if thats at 100% theres your issue

fourthly jump in game turn off AC and AA and vsync

finally check for thermal throttling as you dont have a lot of fans

all i can think of for now

also this is not a strong gaming pc so you will be running on mid settings due to having that cpu and the cards not the greatest tbh

would advise intel i3 the duo core overclock one i cant remember the name or i5-7400 with a 1060 6gb or better

AMD A8-6500? Very weak CPU if you ask me... you need to use something to follow up the numbers, like MSi Afterburner, see the GPU % of usage and the CPU % of usage, if the CPU is steady 100% during game play, while the GPU isn't on 99% then it is bottlenecking your video card, that simple.

Pay attention to memory usage as well, if you ever notice you're using your entire system memory on a game, the chances are you might end up needing to use extra space from Virtual Memory and that decreases your performance tremendously.

that's a good place to start.(catX)

also, is this a uplay title? maybe you're having problems with Uplay? uninstall/reinstall.......... game patches?

try under clocking the gpu and the vram a little. zotac/OC cards don't mix. had a lot of different problems with their cards. so much I don't buy them  any more. ( not that I'm trying to scare you./

the ram. 1 stick? in proper slot? ( read your booklet ). 2 dimms in proper slots?

after your rebuild did you try a cmos reset at all?

maybe there's a conflict with your router if the games you are having troubles with require an internet connection?

another question..... when you installed the card you hooked the monitor cable to it, right? it's not plugged into the motherboard any more?

and did you set the BIOS for video so it points to the card? ( PCI-PEG-auto,slot ) etc.

that apu should be able to play that game without a card installed. I can play older games without too much troubles with similar demands.

Well, since my monitor uses VGA, I'm using a displayport to VGA connector which is in my GPU, and that's connected to the monitor. And what do you mean setting the BIOS to video?

One stick of RAM. And, since it's a prebuilt I never really moved the RAM anywhere. It's been in the same spot. And I haven't reset my CMOS. I'm using the Android Built in internet tethering app, so it's more reliable than PdaNet+.

Well, the main issue is that it's the system apps hogging my memory, so I can't really kill tasks. For example, look at the screenshots attached below. I might upgrade when/if the CPU prices go down this semester, but for now I'm kind of stuck.

Already did that, but some system apps still manage to hog the RAM, CPU, and Disk.

Maybe. Still doesn't explain why I run out of memory on a game that only needs 4 GB of RAM while I have 8.

I suppose. Should I try the Witcher and get back to you and show you my performance? Maybe it's just a Uplay thing.
