So im looking to upgrade my CPU so that i am able to play GTA V a little better, as i get soooo much lag its unplayable even with my GTX1050 and 16gb RAM.

Many people have told me that i would need to upgrade my motherboard aswell as my CPU but i dont really want to have to do that as that means spending more money that I dont have. My motherboard is Gigabyte's F2A78M-HD2 one with FM2+ socket, and currently using AMD's A series 6300 processor. Which even i know is pretty poor!

Lots of diffrent people have told me that i need to buy this CPU, or that this one is better, AMD are rubbish Intel are better blah blah blah. I dont know who to listen to! All I want is to play the games that I have with resonable FPS (30fps+) and no lag. Everything already plays fine APART from GTA V which is espected seen as its so un-optimized. But im so very confused about CPUs and the like that I am nearing mental breakdown. This PC of mine is all that keeps me from going insane and getting sanctiond, so it means a lot to me for it to work properly as a gaming rig.

Thae games i currently have are: TrainSimulator2017, Just Cause2. Minecraft, WarThunder, and GTA V. All but GTA play at reasonable FPS (30fps+) bar GTA, which spikes from 50 to 20 and back to 50 again in a matter of seconds, and will keep dpoing this no matter where i am on the map, but seems to be worse in the city.

All the settings on all the games are on medium to high, but GTA is at the lowest possible.

Having next to no budget also makes it more difficult when buying parts, i spent £118 on my GPU and £50 on my gaming keyboard, and after buying a new processor would wuite like to eat food after!

That is basiclly my situation, and I do not know where to turn.

The 860K is currently the flagship on FM2+, so I'd aim for that if you don't want to/aren't able to hold out to get an AM4 kit.

I checked newegg and it looks like amd has an athlon X4 880k. Not sure if it comes with the new wraith cooler but seems to be the best fm2+ without integrated graphics. It was $96 i think so if that's within budget it would seemingly be the highest performance. The 860 was about $20 cheaper and there is an 870 in between. Hope this helps. I personally am waiting for zen instead of getting an fx 8350 to put in my old am3+ board.

My advice is don't get any of them. Currently the best CPU to get in that socket is the X4 860K but I can tell you from first hand experiences that you won't be enjoying gta 5 at anywhere near 60FPS. Save a bit more make a platform shift, even if you want to save as much money as possible a move to a haswell based chip would be much more beneficial than buying a new chip on the FM2+ socket.
