Hello,

My friend is building a fresh PC, and there's a huge discount on MSI Radeon RX 470 4GB Gaming X in Norway, so he's going to buy that. What would be a nice CPU to pair it with, i5 vs i7? He plays video games like Football manager, BF1, and edit music and photoshop 1-3 times a week. Prefer a non-K CPU, on an non overclockable motherboard to keep costs low, as he has no experience with overclocking. What would you suggest?

Main:  1650 v2   @ 4,6GHz   -   X79 Deluxe                -   GTX 1080 @ 2000MHz   -   24GB DDR3 @ 2400MHz / CL10

Side:   i7-4790K @ 4,5GHz   -   Maximus 7 Hero        -   GTX 1070 @ 2114MHz    -  16GB DDR3 @ 2666MHz / CL12

i5 7600 would be nice BUT if he doesn't care about the generations on Intel CPUs i think he should go with 1150 mobo and xeon e3 1231

Not going with a Xeon, as they have low clocks and IPC. Remember that he wants to play video games, which loves cores with high clocks / IPC :)

Heihei ^^! When Zen is being released a lot of people are probably gonna upgrade to that in Norway. Then there's usually a lot of people selling good second hand processors.

Also, idk if this is legit but if it is this is a pretty good deal: https://m.finn.no/bap/forsale/ad.html?finnkode=88548185

He could just use a b150 motherboard with it and not worry about overclocking.

It's a strong as an i7. Do some research before you make a bigger fool of yourself.

Xeons were made to have high ipc's but your correct in 1 way and  a Xeon wouldn't be appropriate for such a build he should either wait and get ryzen or hope that by then intels prices drop and get a i5 or that new unlocked 7th gen i3

Xeon E3 1231 wouldn't be appropriate? Okay then
